TrackMania DS

I can see Trackmania DS becoming an instant classic in the year of our Lord 2009. What makes Trackmania DS so interesting to us at Family Friendly Gaming is Atlus is not known for this kind of a video game. So I did a double take to make sure I had the publisher right. Sure enough it is Atlus, and this is very encouraging. It is great to see a publisher like them spread their wings, and actively fly towards families. The level of customization in TrackMania DS is absolutely amazing, especially considering this is a Nintendo DS game.

The 3D graphics in TrackMania DS are way better than I expected. There are various colors in the different environments. Some areas can be a little bland, which at times can be the responsibility of the player. The developer created tracks teach the player what kind they can make on their own. I did not find any offensive images while playing TrackMania DS. I also liked the ghosting of different times to learn how to improve.

The music in TrackMania DS is orchestrated nicely. The vehicle sounds fit the theme of this game perfectly. Too many of these racing games have overbearing sounds, so thankfully Atlus avoided that pitfall. I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing TrackMania DS.

TrackMania DS has months of replay value to it. Players have plenty of tracks to race on, and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Atlus included a boatload of customization. Hot Wheels kinds of tracks are available to the gamer in track design. Atlus included a liberal amount of multiplayer modes for up to four players. I feel that TrackMania DS is worth the price of admission.

TrackMania DS has simple controls that make this game approachable to players of all skill sets. Family Friendly Gaming loves to see games that do that. The track designs show intelligent design in most aspects. I do have one complaint in this department, and that is falling off raised tracks. I never could find a way back up. Restarting is easy so this is a minor quibble on my part. I had a lot of fun playing TrackMania DS, and believe you will as well.

TrackMania DS teaches concentration, hand eye coordination, and smart decision making. It is very important to stress the creativity TrackMania DS allows the players. I hope that Atlus releases sequels to this franchise in the future. I will be recommending TrackMania DS to pastors I know. I did not find anything offensive in this Nintendo DS at all.
