Toy Story Mania

Toy Story Mania takes the well known Disney Pixar franchise, and puts them into a party game. The toys turn the room into a festival of fun while Andy is away. This Wii game is partially based on the attractions at Disneyland, and Walt Disney World. Many of the voice actors from the movie have lent their voices to this Wii game. Up to four family members can play Toy Story Mania at the same time. Some of the mini games are in 3D.

The 3D effects in video games are a very nice development, and I appreciate it in Toy Story Mania. There are a plethora of colors in this Wii game that bring it to life. There is also a fair amount of animation that looks like the Toy Story movies. Families run into almost every single Toy Story toy at one point or another in Toy Story Mania. There are a lot of mini games based on shooting something. Throwing eggs at targets, shooting balloons, and throwing rings over items are some examples. This falls under the shooting gallery kind of carnival games, and not something I would put under violence.

Toy Story Mania has some great music, and fantastic voice acting. Remember I said most of the voice actors lent their voices? There are a few notable voices missing, and the replacements do not sound right. It is just not Toy Story for me, when certain characters voices do not sound right. On the positive side there are way more of the movie voices included in this Wii game.

I had a lot of fun playing the mini games in Toy Story Mania. They are easy enough to pick up, and a lot of fun to play with more than one person. Toy Story Mania is a little on the easy side, however families can get a lot of replay value out of this game. There is a cool system to unlock content where tickets are used.  The sticker book will please the younger members of the family.

Toy Story Mania uses the Wii Remote, and is very easy to control. I did lose my on screen cursor here and there on a few of the mini games. This was more of an irritation than a problem though. Toy Story Mania really fleshes out the characters in a way that all ages of the family will enjoy. The only bad part we found playing Toy Story Mania was having to stop.

Family Friendly Gaming enjoys video games that families can safely play together. Toy Story Mania is one of those games. The lessons in this game are hand eye coordination, cooperation, and competition. I hope Disney Interactive Studios releases more games like Toy Story Mania in the future. It was my pleasure to play and review this Wii game.
