The Princess and the Frog

The Wii version of The Princess and the Frog is a party game. Up to four family members can play the twenty-five plus mini-games. Players can follow events from the Disney movie. Girls will enjoy getting to mix and match Tiana’s outfits, as well as decorating the restaurant. The movie tie in for this party game will reach fans of The Princess and the Frog. This home console video game is geared slightly towards the female side of the family. Boys also enjoy playing this game though. In fact there are male characters to play as well as female characters.

The visuals in The Princess and the Frog are soft, and go along with the film. The frog characters animate amazingly well. The human characters can seem to be stiff at times. They animated better in the Wii version than the DS version. I enjoy the colors in this particular video game. The New Orleans look and feel are great. There is magic in The Princess and the Frog that is used for various purposes. Fans of frogs will really get into The Princess and the Frog.

The music in The Princess and the Frog has a very distinctive feel to it. Tiana is on a quest to get her very own restaurant, which I find to be a worthwhile goal. She winds up learning from the kissing a frog, and gets herself turned into a frog. Various parts of this Wii game have the characters dancing, and playing instruments. Jazz music is the main kind of music in The Princess and the Frog.

Families can get together and compete in The Princess and the Frog. There are mini game compilations that have more mini games. The theme of the movie will appeal to a lot of families. There are some items that can be unlocked that relate to the restaurant and Tiana’s attire.

There are different controls for the mini games. I did find common themes for many of them though. There are pointing at the screen mini games, and moving the Wii Remote/Nunchuk around mini games. Those two are the main themes. We had fun playing The Princess and the Frog on the Wii.

I like the party game concept being used for a movie game. The Princess and the Frog teaches kids to work hard to achieve their goals. The entire magic element is used in multiple mini games. Players can get turned into frogs for not standing still.
