The Pink Panther 2

My experience is most people either enjoy, or can not stand Steve Martin. I have enjoyed his work in some movies, and not in others. So I guess that makes me the exception. He returns to renew his role as Inspector Jacques Clouseau in The Pink Panther 2. The Blu-ray version was used for this review, however it is also on DVD. A master thief is stealing priceless artifacts, and eventually gets around to The Pink Panther diamond. A dream team of detectives is formed to solve the case. Can the bumbling detective save the day?

There are a lot of visual gags in The Pink Panther 2 that are very humorous. Some of them (like impersonating the Pope) may be found offensive. I was not personally offended by this, but want to make a point in case you may be. The attire choices is generally safe in The Pink Panther 2. There is one female character who is borderline in my opinion. The karate fighting scenes really run up the repair bill.

The Pink Panther 2 contains jokes that could be considered racist, sexist, and sexual harassment in nature. There is a political correctness police kind of character who is constantly getting the Inspector in trouble. As an adult I found some of these jokes to be funny. I would not want my children listening to or repeating any of them though. The classic Pink Panther music is continued in this movie, and I appreciated that.

The Pink Panther 2 package FFG received contained the Blu-ray, Digital Copy and a bonus DVD. The bonus DVD is what rounds this package out for families since it contains 27 of the original Pink Panther cartoons. My kids love those cartoons. The main disc also contains a gag reel, and a couple of behind the scenes features.

I had no problem with the menu screens, and liked how they stayed in the same spot. The Pink Panther 2 has an interesting story that contains some real bright spots. The restaurant getting burned down twice was a low point, but the wedding was appreciated.

There was one bad part in the wedding where the movie tells viewers wives do not need to obey their husbands. A married man is also with a woman not his wife and tells the doorman to keep a look out for his wife. I did like how a mystery was solved, and slapstick humor like the wine bottles scene. The Pink Panther 2 has some funny moments that had me laughing very loud.
