The Other End of the Line
SCORE: 80
I expected all kinds of problems with The Other End of the Line, and was pleasantly surprised. There is some bad content in this cross cultural film, however way less than plenty of other recent chick flick films. Priya Sethi is a credit card telephone worker in India. They learn about American culture and pretend to be in certain American cities to make their work easier. I suppose this company created deception is done to ease customer tensions. She winds up helping Granger Woodruff, who has his information stolen (editor: and they went on a wild spending spree). Granger is also trying to win a big hotel client, and has to go to San Francisco for a meeting. Priya says she is in San Francisco so they decide to meet. Priya leaves her family, and arranged marriage fiancée to meet Granger. The plot takes a few twists and turns before they meet and fall in love.
The Other End of the Line has some scenes that are definitely not for children. Women in their underwear, and very suggestive motions under the covers. There are also a lot of playable, and romantic images. I love it when a movie ends with the two main characters kissing. The goal for them was the kiss. The images of the Indian culture are fantastic.
There is some bad language in The Other End of the Line, however it is not that frequent. The whole issue of deception is done by both characters since both of them have a girlfriend, or fiancée in their lives. To be fair Granger thinks he has broken up with his girlfriend. Granger spends most of the time against marriage, and I would have liked to have see him mature in that regard.
The special screening copy Family Friendly Gaming received of The Other End of the Line had little extras. I hope the commercial release has some more. I did enjoy this movie enough to have my mother and sister watch it. The lengths they go to for their one true love makes points.
The Other End of the Line functions normally, and the menu screens are put together properly. The storyline is predictable in many ways, but there are a few humorous surprises. I will not spoil the fun, but when you get there you will know exactly what I mean.
I have watched a lot of
chick flicks and found The Other End of the Line to be an enjoyable one.
There are some issues with this movie in terms of language, and sex.
There are also some great family morals, like a father going after his
daughter, and being open to listen to his daughter about the arranged
marriage.
