The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and Volume 2

Since Lifeline Studios is selling The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and Volume 2 in the same package, we will review them together as one unit. The price on their website is $19.95, and this gets you two DVD's with 52 minutes each. Each DVD contains six episodes of the television show based off the kids video games. Thanks to an amazing brother in Christ, Family Friendly Gaming received a reviewable unit of these DVDs. How does The Charlie Church Mouse Show  stack up against VeggieTales, and Boz? I hope this review will answer that question.

Visually speaking The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 tries some interesting things. There are live humans, and someone in a giant mouse costume (Charlie Church Mouse) in a computer generated backdrop. They interact with computer animated characters. This looks decent in some parts, and really sticks out in others. VeggieTales and Boz do not interpose humans, however their animation looks better to my eye. My pre-schooler did not care, and he enjoyed these DVDs.

The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 has a wonderful message that teaches great lessons. Some of the lessons repeat, or are very similar. That was okay with me. The voice acting did not always have a lot of emotion. At times the kids in the show looked like they were just reading off a cue card. Again young children will not notice, and love the songs included. In fact my youngest son was dancing to the songs, and singing along.

There is an interesting bonus feature on both volumes of The Charlie Church Mouse Show. That is a demo of the game. Put the disc into a DVD drive on a computer, and you can get a demo of a Charlie Church Mouse video game. This is pretty cool, but that is the only extra feature. My youngest son rewatched The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2, until I needed something else on. Which is strange because I can rewatch Boz over and over again. That may be because Boz contains content for adults as well as kids. The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 is targeted at kids only.

The menus screens function properly. Each of the 12 shows in The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 follow a similar pattern. Kids can learn wonderful lessons by watching these DVDs. The shows are a little on the short side, but there are enough of them to make the purchase feel worthwhile.

Reliance on Jesus, turning to God, and including God are some of the lessons that The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 teach. There are also minor lessons about obeying elders, doing the right thing, and helping others. I feel that The Charlie Church Mouse Show Volume 1 and 2 is a good start for this franchise. I really hope there are sequels, and that they improve upon this foundation.
