Tekken 6

Tekken has been steadily fighting its way into the hearts of hardcore gamers for years now. The Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 versions of Tekken 6 brought the series to a new level of realism. Hand held versions are generally scaled down versions that few hardcore gamers enjoy. What about families though? Do families enjoy taking on characters and beating each other senseless with punches and kicks?

The graphics in Tekken 6 surprised me. They look fantastic. In fact many of the cinema style movies look very close to the home console. Unfortunately for Tekken 6 that winds up hurting it. The core content of this game is violence. Pummel your opponent with your characters feet, and hands. There are some odd characters in this game like a kangaroo, a punching dummy, and some monster looking characters. Many of the female characters bounce around in their upper section, as well as have clothing choices that are highly questionable.

The music in Tekken 6 left me feeling like I had been somewhere epic. There is some humor that is not for kids. Adults like myself were not very impressed with it. Various characters have different motives for joining this tournament. Some of them are more honorable than others. That is the nicest way I can say that.

Tekken 6 contains an Ad Hoc mode for those who want to beat up people online. There are not as many modes in the Playstation Portable (PSP) version, however there are quite a few for a hand held. The Nintendo DS could not handle this much content. Tekken 6 includes enough characters to keep fighting fans happy for a few weeks to months.

I found the game play in Tekken 6 to be sluggish. The computer can string together some attacks that will wind up killing your character. The constant violence wore on me as well. Men and women beat on each other mercilessly. I did not enjoy Tekken 6, but then I believe in turning the other cheek. Tekken 6 teaches to get them before they get you.

The video game industry has a bad public image, and I believe games like Tekken 6 are part of the reason. This game increases aggression levels, and I have to ask why. Why do we need that in our lives? Are any of us going into an UFC octagon? Are we all soldiers going to war? I really do not see the point in violent games like Tekken 6. I am sure it will sell well, and the hardcore fans will bow down and worship this game. Will you join them?
