Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party

I find it really cool to play sequels of franchises we asked for here at Family Friendly Gaming. Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party is obviously a sequel to the first Wii Summer Sports home console video game. Players get to participate in twelve party games including archery, soccer, basketball, bocce ball, mini golf, shuffleboard, target football, and different forms of basketball games. Up to four players can play this game that requires both Wii Remote and Nunchuk (note: not all of the mini games require the Nunchuk)

Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party looks better than the original. The island theme makes me think of Mayan, Aztecs, and Incas all rolled up into one. The theme is all over this Wii game, including the menu screens (where the text changes from strange characters to words in English). The female characters are wearing sports kind of attire. Some of it is skin tight, and there are midriffs showing. All four players can be selected so the female characters can be avoided if the images bother you. The animations are interesting as the characters dance around.

Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party continues the island musical theme. I found that some of the annoying sounds were removed. There are taunts in Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party, but they can be turned off. I had the taunts on, and did not even notice them while playing so they did not have much of an impact on me. I enjoyed the special effect sounds, and believe they are much improved in this sequel.

The basketball heavy mini games may not appeal to everyone. I did find a lot of replay value to plenty of the mini games in Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party. There are three difficulty levels for each of the games, and some unlockable content. The local multiplayer options will keep quite a few families busy for months to come. I have had a lot of fun playing Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party, as have others here at Family Friendly Gaming. I feel this Wii game is worth the price of admission.

Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party has generally very good controls. A few of the games like Shuffleboard, and the mini golf can be a bit touchy at times. It can take some time to adapt to their controls, and figuring out the right amount of pressure. Archery takes a little skill to determine how much the wind will affect the arrow. Soccer and basketball are simple and easy to learn.

Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party gives the player the controls while the game is loading. This is very handy. The attire of most of the females is the only issue I can see with this Wii game. There is a lot of good clean family fun in Summer Sports 2 Island Sports Party. This is an improvement in most ways from the first one.
