Suikoden Tierkreis
SCORE: 65
Pre-destination versus free will has long been debated with both
sides making very valid points. This is the first time (editor: Family
Friendly Gaming is aware of) a video game has decided to take a side and
preach their stance. Let alone mock, and insult those that believe
differently. Followers of The One True Way are the bad guys in this
Nintendo DS video game. Suikoden Tierkreis has some big shoes to fill as
the Suikoden series is well known in the role playing game circles. The
108 stars of destiny are present, and they get mystical powers from
touching special books. The Infinity is also taught in this game, which
is referred to in our world as the multiverse. This reviewer remembers
just a few years ago that only crackpots would spew such an idea as the
multiverse. Now it has taken root in some academic circles.
The hand drawn art in Suikoden Tierkreis is awesome. The cut scene mini movies are anime quality, and the regular/battle screens are okay. Battling monsters, and then humans is common place in this game. There are also certain female characters that get attention based on their lack of threads. The mystical attacks lack the flare other RPG’s contain.
Voice acting on the DS! Are you kidding me? The RPG Master is
completely serious. Hearing voices read the lines drew this reviewer
into the story. The sad part is there is bad language, and attitudes.
The music is awe inspiring, and extremely well done. The concept of
having more than one wife is also present in Suikoden Tierkreis.
Role playing games generally have more hours to them, and
Suikoden Tierkreis is no exception. Collecting the 108 stars is
something that hardcore RPG fanatics will want to work on as well.
Suikoden Tierkreis contains multicard wireless play for those that have
progressed through the main story to a certain point.
Suikoden Tierkreis drew the RPG Master in even with the problems with certain story constructs. The controls are generally the normal controls on the machine minus the touch screen. The touch screen is available in certain spots, but the game play does not focus on that.
People of faith can easily be offended by Suikoden Tierkreis.
This reviewer is not sure why Konami would do this since the majority of
Americans are people of faith (editor: one form or another). The
Infinity of universes concept is currently part of the evolutionists
religious beliefs, and Suikoden Tierkreis teaches that to be truth. Does
this game have the player fighting on the wrong side?
