Stargate The Ark of Truth

For years I have wanted to do a review on the Stargate franchise, and The Ark of Truth is the perfect entry point. Stargate The Ark of Truth concludes the main storyline arc that was not quite finished in the end of Stargate Season Ten. The Farscape/Stargate cast have come together nicely in this DVD movie. The Ori may be dead but their priors are still out to decimate the science-evolution worshiping humans in our galaxy. This DVD also includes a nice little twist with the reintroduction of one of the worst enemies the SGC ever faced. Sorry no spoilers friends, fans, and family who have not yet seen this movie. With a name like Stargate The Ark of Truth you knew Family Friendly Gaming would have to cover it.

The special effects in Stargate The Ark of Truth are spectacular with a few areas of grossness. The fire effects look amazingly realistic, and the energy weapons look very realistic. One of the problems with Stargate The Ark of Truth is the high amounts of violence contained. There are also a few female characters that dressed in a provocative way trying to entice to lust on this DVD.

Stargate The Ark of Truth has wonderful music that inspires me. What shocked me about this movie is the foul language included in different parts. I find it a shame that it is included because it really tears this movie down - a lot. There are a lot of concepts included in Stargate The Ark of Truth, one of the worse is a not so subtle attack on the church. The Ori are compared to Christians in a lot of different ways, and this spin is not appreciated by this reviewer.

MGM included a few nice extras on this DVD. I wish there had been more, especially considering the price per minute of viewing (compared to the price for minute of a season of a television show). There is some of the previously mentioned bad content in the extras of Stargate The Ark of Truth. Fans of the show, and those that have thick skins are the ones that this DVD will appeal to.

Stargate The Ark of Truth functions the way it should, and almost every screen exhibits an intelligent design. I guess I was hoping for more though, because there is not a lot of flash or wow in the screens. The info on the next Stargate movie that follows this one is a nice little teaser. I have seen all ten seasons of Stargate so I enjoyed seeing the end of the Ori arc, but I really miss Jack O’Neal.

There are some nice moments in Stargate The Ark of Truth, but the family is not shown as a good thing. A lot of the story has things wrap up way too conveniently for my tastes. The hostility towards those that have made the world a better place (the church) is my biggest problem with Stargate The Ark of Truth.
