Star Ocean Till the end of Time
SCORE: 57
Star Ocean till the end of time hits all the low notes that role playing games are demeaned for. Video games have a bad image, and RPG gamers are lowest image among gamers. Star Ocean till the end of time does everything to reinforce these negative stereotypes. One of these days we need some RPG games that will improve the image of the RPG gamers like the Wii does for gamers in general. The young hero has a fantastic past he was not aware of (set in space) and gets chased by what is originally perceived as bad guys. All of the plot twists are quite expected, making the story a very bland experience.
The graphics in Star Ocean till the end of time have a wide array of problems. There is a ton of violence, goddess worship, and the enticement to lust issues. When will developers mature, and treat women with the respect they so richly deserve? Women are more than sexual objects to be lusted after. The violence is seen in real time, and the player hacks, slashes and uses occultic spells to murder them.
Star Ocean till the end of time has problems in the audio department as well. There is way too much bad language used throughout this game. Certain characters like to spew profanity after they are the one to murder the last enemy. There is some emotion to the voice acting, but the archaic usage of profanity takes away any pleasure in this department.
If you are one of the few brave souls who has a high enough tolerance to the previously mentioned moral filth, then Star Ocean till the end of time has a decent length to the extremely slow developing storyline. A lot of hidden items and areas are included for those who take an interest in the sci-fi fantasy world created.
Square Enix used to be known for their story telling. Star Ocean till the end of time starts out fine, and then grinds to a halt till almost near the end of the game. The controls work well in this game, even if a lot of the development for characters is not explained.
Star Ocean till the end of
time is a game the RPG Master was embarrassed to play. This is the kind
of a video game that makes the industry, and gamers look bad. No sequels
unless the multitude of problems are fixed. This PS2 game is very
anti-family.
