Spyborgs

Spyborgs is a hack and slash done in the sci-fi fashion. Players get to take on the role of a cybernetic super soldier. There are three characters to choose from. That means either you play with a friend, or the computer takes on the role of the team mate. Bad robots are on the attack, and there are ton of them. How could anyone churn out that many robots? There were less terminators in that apocalyptic future. There is some really bad guy who must be stopped, so that is why the gamer has to wade through all of these robots.

The core of the images in Spyborgs are violent ones. The player dismantles these robots, and pieces stay around for a little bit. There are fires, explosions, and other such related images. Clandestine dresses in a provocative manner, which includes showing off her midriff. I find it interesting that she is a ninja, which means her attire choice makes even less sense. Many of the graphics are dark, but have great details, and fantastic special effects.

This Wii game contains certain inappropriate language, attitudes, and humor. I would say to not break the ESRB’s suggested age at all. I would suggest waiting for adulthood before playing Spyborgs. I am an adult and the content was not to my liking in this section. On the plus side the music shows talent in the heavy metal genre.

Spyborgs has a lot of extras to unlock, and multiple levels of difficulty. The background information in the form of hidden tapes is the most interesting to me. Two family members can play Spyborgs in a cooperative mode which scores points with Family Friendly Gaming. Some of the extra content does contain inappropriate content so that is the only thing that brings Spyborgs down in this section.

Capcom included a lot of different attacks in Spyborgs. Problem is there is a lot of color swapping, and repetitive game play. Go into an area fight off so many enemies, collect the items, look for hidden stuff, and then repeat. This is the bulk of most of the levels. Boss battles are inventive, and much more interesting. Problem is I was mentally numb by the time I finally made it to another boss.

The biggest lesson I learned from Spyborgs is to get them before they get me. Also madmen have an unlimited supply of robots that are thrown at me in measured waves. It was a chore for me to review Spyborgs. I know the hardcore violent crowd will eat this game up. I have to ask how many of them are owners of the Wii.
