So the game plays a lot like Cooking Mama (editor: although a little on the lighter side). Perform functions well, and the player earns money. That money can be spent on purchasing new recipes. Fans of SpongeBob will be interested to know they get to manage the Krusty Krab restaurant. The staff also gets trained along the way, getting better at their jobs. So can you become the ultimate fry cook?

SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off has some bright colors to it, but also some rather bland ones as well. The characters look a little strange (editor: like the cartoon), and the food is less than appetizing looking. Things like green burgers do not appeal to me personally. This DS game focuses on the cooking, and managing aspects, not so much on the servicing others.

The music in SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off is cool. It fits the theme of the franchise, and cooking. I loved the sounds when I got a perfect in one of the cooking mini games. The failure sounds are unfortunately annoying. This Nintendo DS game is not as encouraging as Cooking Mama is when failures are performed.

If you are into cooking games then there is a lot of replay value to SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off. Of course you have to be into the SpongeBob franchise as well. If you have three friends who also have this game, then four Nintendo DSes can be linked together for some multiplayer modes. Games like SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off can generally be found for a reasonable price at most retailers. SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off contains over 100 recipes so you will get your moneys worth.

I found the controls in SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off to be simple enough. I let some kids try this DS game, and they actually had problems with the controls. I had some fun playing SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off, but they did not like it. I share this back and forth because this DS game is not for everyone, and it seems to be hit or miss. I would hate for you to purchase this game, and find out your kids hate it.

SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off teaches concentration, following on screen directions, and working hard pays off. The SpongeBob universe elements are light in my opinion, and there is not a lot of the franchises weird attempts at humor. SpongeBob vs The Big One Beach Party Cook-Off is an interesting idea that will appeal to fans of the series, and cooking games.
