Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors

Natsume is known for some quirky little titles. Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors on the Playstation Portable (PSP) is one realistic little hand held fishing game. Plenty of fish are included in this game, along with some very friendly characters. The player starts out near death needing to relax. That is where fishing comes into play. Fishing will help the player on the road to health. I have been fishing before and can attest to how relaxing it can be. It is also a wonderful time to talk to God while in the great outdoors. I did not find any mention of talking with God while playing this game.

The biggest knock on Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors is the graphics which are really bland. The under water visuals are also really generic. The animation on the fish themselves was nicely done, and reminds me of real fish. I did not find any offensive images while playing Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors.

If you have ever sat listening to a babbling brook, or listened to the sounds on the shore of a lake you will appreciate the sounds in Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors. Natsume did an excellent job capturing the sounds of nature in this PSP video game. The characters are encouraging and helpful in this game, and have a real laid back feel.

If you can get used to the difficulty (editor: which is realistic with fishing) then Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors has a lot of replay value to it. Natsume also included some mini games, and Wi-Fi game play for those wanting to compete against one another. I found this game pretty cheap (under ten US dollars), and feel it is worth the money.

Natsume included plenty of different poles, lures, flies, and baits for the player to experiment with. The game play can be confusing at times as the fish will fight the player every so often, and the instructions do not always seem to help with always making a catch. I suppose they wanted to be sure that some fish don’t get caught. I had fun even though the difficulty is pretty high.

Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors is the kind of a video game that the PSP needs to try and improve its image. I found Reel Fishing The Great Outdoors to be safe for the entire family. I will be recommending this Playstation Portable game to local area pastors, and would love to see some sequels to this game (improve the graphics please).
