Princess Protection Program

Princess Protection Program is a very cute Disney movie that has a lot of laughs in it.   A princess (Rosalinda) needs to be saved while a dictator tries to take over her country before she can become queen. She gets hidden with an American teenager (Carter) and has to try and blend in. Her royal routine is thrown out the window and she has to learn a completely different culture. Along the way she teaches Carter how to unleash her inner princess.

Disney kept the visuals clean in Princess Protection Program, and that is saying a lot considering the subject matter. The girls wear a wide array of clothing and it is very tactful in almost every single case. There is no physical violence, although I was expecting some at certain stages of the movie. The girls look glamorous at certain stages of the DVD as well.

Princess Protection Program has a message of hope, and helping those less fortunate than themselves. The deception (hiding a princess) is actually toned down a lot. The music is upbeat and fits the theme of this DVD perfectly. Princess Protection Program does contain verbal threats by the bad characters, which are never realized.

I did not know the two main actresses were good friends. One of the behind the scenes special features explain this (Royal & Loyal BFFs). A Royal Reality is an interesting extra about a real life princess. Finally the music video for One and the Same round out the extras. On top of that expect the normal Disney sneak peaks. I feel that this DVD is worth the price of admission.

I really enjoyed Princess Protection Program on DVD. This movie is a fresh, clean, and wholesome story with a lot of humor. Two worlds (cultures) clashing in ways you would never expect. That clash is where the majority of the humor comes from (like using a fork and knife to cut a hamburger). The menu screens operate as I would expect them to, and exhibit an intelligent design.

Disney is one of those companies that can take a well established franchise, and tweak it in ways that are interesting to all ages of the family. Princess Protection Program may be more geared towards the female side of the family, but my hubby watched it with me, and he enjoyed it too. I would love to see a sequel to Princess Protection Program, especially if the bad guy is not so corny.
