Poohs Heffalump Halloween Movie

Walt Disney is letting Lumpy Celebrate his first ever Halloween in Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie on DVD. The package Family Friendly Gaming received also contained a limited edition Winnie the Pooh plush wearing a Tigger costume. This little stuffed animal is the biggest hit of the package for many of the children I let watch this 66 minute long movie. Fear is the main topic of Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie, as well as being with your friends for Halloween. Piglet even recounts his previous fears, and how he overcame them.

I was expecting certain images with this DVD, but I was not expecting how dark (editor: visually) a lot of the scenes were. There are plenty of images meant to scare, and they worked. Kids of various ages were startled by certain surprise images in Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie. I was even given a report that a pre-schooler woke up with  a nightmare after watching this movie. There are certainly a lot more frightening images out there, but I wanted to let our readers be aware of the content on this DVD.

Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie has some songs, and the music fits the theme of the storyline. Most Pooh DVD’s have kids up singing and dancing. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie did not warrant that reaction, which I found a little strange. I myself did not find the songs as catchy in this movie as other Winnie the Pooh based movies. There is talk of things that could scare a child, so be aware of that as well. I did like the lesson of using natures candy instead of sweets that rot your teeth.

The plush toy included scored a lot of smiles here at Family Friendly Gaming. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie also includes games like pass the pumpkin, trick or re-treat, Pooh’s Boo! Bingo, and more. There are also DVD-ROM features like printable party invitations, recipes, and decorate your own jaggedy lantern. The Sneak Peeks shows the target age of the audience quite well.

I was able to move around the various menu screens. I did have a few problems at times with where I was, and that may have to do with an occasional lag. The storyline is about conquering fear. There is a subplot about having fun during Halloween, and finding a lost friend. As an adult I found a lot of interesting things on this DVD. I am a little intrigued that children we let watch Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie were not that into it.

Never leave Winnie the Pooh alone with a lot of candy, and no supervision. Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie teaches that lesson, as well as others previously mentioned. Lumpy is a great little character, and I would love to see more of him, and of course the rest of the Winnie the Pooh gang.
