Petz Catz 2

Once in a while, we at Family Friendly Gaming get crammed with games from wonderful publishers and companies. When Ubisoft brought all the different version of the Petz 2 to the door of Family Friendly Gaming, I instantly took the chance to get the Catz version of the Petz 2 series. I’m a cat lover, so it only seemed natural for me to review it. I also love playing video games on my Nintendo DS.

The graphics of Catz 2 look and feel nice. While a little outdated, the graphics still have a real look and mood to them. The “catz” are cute, and the environments are clear. The animal does “use the bathroom”, but it’s not offensive. I’ll leave it at that. Toys, clothing items, and all the like are there, and it’s all clean and good. No complaints on any of the content here.

The sound of this game are nice. Clean music and cats meowing really make me think I’m there. Other than that, it’s pretty much the same thing over and over. No offensive sounds were made. If cat sounds bother you then a headache could be the result for you.

The controls in Catz 2 on the Nintendo DS work rather nice, actually. You can interact with the cat and its environments by using the touch-screen, while moving through menus require buttons. It’s all responsive and nice, so no problems here. I liked how this was done, and encourage other developers to check this one out.

Overall, I’m afraid it’s just not enough for me though. It seems too much like the original to this reviewer. That, and it may not hold the attention of players. Once you complete a task, it’s said and done. Not much to do here. Graphics were not improved much from the original, which is too bad. This game is developed for the younger players, and it really shows.

Petz Catz 2 does make me want to go pet my cat, so it has had a positive effect on me. If you have allergies to cats, and really want one then this Nintendo DS video game is right up your alley.
