Petes Dragon

Pete's Dragon was originally released in 1976, and was high technology for its day. Disney mixed animation with live actors to tell a story. So thirty-three years later it is nice to see the release of Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition on DVD.

I had not seen this movie for quite some time, and must say the effects are showing their age. I was also surprised to see a tavern, and a lot of drinking in one scene of Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition. The attire choices are appropriate, and the scenery is pleasant to look at. The only violence in this movie is used for comic relief, and/or chasing off the bad characters.

Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition has a lot of songs in it. None of them stuck with me. I had some children watch Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition with me, and the songs did not capture their attention like other Disney musicals.

There are some special features of historical interest in Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition. The Brazzle Dazzle Effects that show the behind the scenes of Disney's movie magic is my personal favorite. There are some deleted storyboard sequences which are okay. Demo recordings of songs, and a few more.

The menu screens in Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition exhibit an intelligent design. They have a pretty standard layout which makes navigation simple. I enjoyed some of the background graphics on various menu screens. A few of the feature names are so long I was not always sure if I was on it due to how the icon image exhibits.

Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition teaches the story of a boy trying to get freed from slavery. He winds up getting into a family, and not having to run away anymore. At this point the dragon no longer needs to help him. Elliot (the dragon) is shown as semi-intelligent, and acts like a dog quite a bit. Pete's Dragon High-Flying Edition is a clean (generally) movie that can give hope.
