Nerf N-Strike Elite

I absolutely love the EA symbol used on Nerf N-Strike Elite. It is a golden one with what looks like a target on EA. This Wii game comes with a Nerf gun. The Wii Remote goes into the gun and that is how the game is played. Take out the Wii Remote, and put a piece back in, and the gun shoots Nerf bullets. I have always liked it when the company producing the product gives us multiple uses.

Nerf N-Strike Elite is a rail shooter. That means the camera moves around and the player shoots at things within their range. The camera allows for a little movement once it has stopped. I was okay playing Nerf N-Strike Elite, but I know some others were getting headaches from some of the quick camera shifts. Players shoot the robots with Nerf guns, and Nerf bullets. The enemies do explode when there are enough suction cupped Nerf bullets on them. The details are good, and many of the enemies are re-used multiple times.

The music in Nerf N-Strike Elite is okay. It did not stick with me, nor did it irritate me. The whole robots going after kids was a little strange. I caught some interesting one liners like a character saying they would bring their own heat. Nerf N-Strike Elite gives verbal as well as visual instructions which helps players learn the game.

How can you not love a game that also gives you a Nerf gun? I think this is one of the coolest ideas out there. If you have a problem with guns, then you will not share my enthusiasm. If guns offend you, let me apologize right here. EA included a lot of different unlockable content. There are multiple modes in Nerf N-Strike Elite, and a lengthy story mode. Two players can enjoy this game at the same time.

The biggest problem I had with Nerf N-Strike Elite is the game play. The targeting works great, and the levels kept me mentally engaged. The red reveal tech is my problem. I like the concept, but having to flick it up and down so often really cramped my style. I could not keep it up and see my targeting icon very well. I applaud EA for trying this, and having hidden switches, and messages; however I had problems using it.

Some may say that Nerf N-Strike Elite is a gateway for kids to shooters. I disagree. When I was a kid we played with cowboy guns that had a loud bang, and some smoke. I also played Laser Tag. Nerf guns are generally safe for kids to play with, and I had fun playing Nerf N-Strike Elite. I would like to see a sequel to this game, maybe have deactivated robots stop and not explode. Or possibly do a FPSer where shooting other kids vests was the goal.
