Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships
SCORE: 88
You may have read the news article on the release of Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships in the News section of Family Friendly Gaming on the website. If you did then you know this is Her Interactive’s twentieth video game release in this branch of the Nancy Drew franchise. That is some amazing longevity. Quite a few issues of Family Friendly Gaming have had reviews and/or picture pages on Nancy Drew video games from this publisher/developer. Bess gets kidnapped, and it is up to Nancy Drew to save her. If you have never played a Nancy Drew game on the PC, then this is the game to start with. Her Interactive has improved the franchise to a fine point.
Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships can compete with games like Myst and Riven graphically. The beautiful photo-realistic scenes are awe inspiring. The characters show an improvement, but are still not as amazing as the scenery. I should warn you that there is a little bit of violence in this game, and threats. Bad characters add to the drama and storyline.
I still really like the voice acting in this franchise. I heard a few characters say things I would not say. Suspicion and lies are part of any mystery. So expect some of that while playing Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships. None of it offended me personally, but be advised it is there. I enjoyed the music, mainly because Her Interactive targets it for the theme beautifully.
Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships is like a lot of mystery based video games. Once you play through there is not a lot of reasons to replay. There is a more difficult mode though. I also enjoyed some of the mini games. Getting through the game will take time and a lot of thought.
I have played enough Nancy Drew games to know my way around. Moving the mouse around the screen shows what can be interacted with and where. The puzzles in Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships range from simple to mind numbingly difficult. Or maybe it is how I think. The timing of this video game release is very intelligent with all of the news stories of pirates on the open seas. I had fun playing this PC video game.
Nancy Drew Ransom of the Seven Ships teaches critical, and analytical
thought. Certain clues are easy to unearth, and others are cleverly
disguised. I love how Nancy Drew wants to help others, and in this game
it is one of her friends. Out of all the Nancy Drew mystery adventure
PC games I have played this is my current all time favorite.
