My Sims Racing

My Sims Racing is a cute little kart racing video game on the Wii. Take the My Sims franchise (the cute family friendly branch of the Sims family), and mix it with the kart racing genre for a fun little mix. Players start out with character creation, then vehicle creation. A tutorial mode introduces the player to the various skills contained in My Sims Racing. Like the Mario Kart games there are special attacks that can be picked up on the race tracks. The bubble is one of the most insidious I have ever come across in any kart racing title (it holds you in place until you shake free via the Wii Remote). Jumping over small obstacles (or off ramps) is also a little shake of the Wii Remote.

My Sims Racing has a bright and colorful look to it. I love the family friendly look to the characters, and vehicles. The comic mischief the ESRB found relates to using special weapons like bee hives, soccer balls, acorns, and bubbles. If the competitor is hit by one of these they are trapped for a second, or spin out. Electronic Arts did not glorify the violence which is something we appreciated here at Family Friendly Gaming.

The music in My Sims Racing was interesting. I enjoyed the little sounds, and the customization included on this Wii game. The characters voices are family friendly, and some of them brought a smile to my face. I love how friendly the various characters are in My Sims Racing. I did not drive into any words I would define as offensive.

My Sims Racing has a lot of unlockable content. There is a lot of customization to vehicles, and the characters. Up to four players can race against one another in My Sims Racing. There are a fair amount of tracks, and I appreciated the different tasks (like collect pizzas).

There are some physics in the racing of My Sims Racing that are found in the real world. A heavier vehicle drifts differently than a lighter vehicle. The various controllers this game is compatible with is awe inspiring. The loading screens in My Sims Racing are brilliant because they contain hints on how to play this Wii game better. I also liked how My Sims Racing allowed me to collect items in races that are used to build better pieces for my racing vehicles. I had a lot of fun playing My Sims Racing.

I would love to see sequels to My Sims Racing. There are some really neat ideas in this Wii game. The bubbles are family friendly, as are most of the other special weapons. I am thankful that EA blessed us with a reviewable copy because this is a game I am going to recommend to friends and family members. The main lesson in My Sims Racing is competition.
