My Hero Doctor

My Hero Doctor is one of those video games that makes me feel like I am doing something important. The player takes on the role of a doctor in the ER who helps people. The situations in this Nintendo DS video game are simulations of real emergencies. You know, where people may die. Our culture has abused the word emergency, so it is great to see a game like this that resets that definition. My Hero Doctor trains the player slowly, and allows them to grow in their knowledge.

The graphics in My Hero Doctor are a dual edged sword. Many of them look great, and realistic. That level of realism is where My Hero Doctor can get in trouble. Blood, broken bones, and more are visually represented in this hand held video game. If you are squeamish then you might want to really think about it before purchasing this game. If you are interested in medicine, then My Hero Doctor is a great way to get some exposure to this profession. Scenes working on a patient look way better than the ones where the player drives the ambulance.

My Hero Doctor contains quite a few certificates the player can earn. On top of that there are different vehicles to be used to race on to the scene. Teenagers will spend weeks mastering everything in My Hero Doctor. Only one player can operate on patients at a time.

The touch screen controls really make My Hero Doctor what it is. My favorite part was keeping my hand steady while giving a shot. Some of the actions you perform are technically what a nurse would do, but Family Friendly Gaming is not quibbling. I had fun playing this game, and even consulted my sister ( a nurse in real life) on certain aspects of this DS game.

The main lesson in My Hero Doctor is helping people. The game not only gives the treatments but also includes preventative measures to avoid the same situation. I am very pleased that Majesco Entertainment is publishing the My Hero line. I hope to see many more in the coming years.
