Mickey and the Beanstalk
SCORE: 82
Disney has released six volumes of their animation collection on DVD. Mickey and the Beanstalk, The Brave Little Tailor, Gulliver Mickey, Thru the Mirror, and Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip are the animated shows on this DVD. Together they come to approximately 69 minutes. Most of the cartoons are in color, with the exception of Gulliver Mickey. I find it interesting that the first three have a giant theme to them.
I remember these Mickey Mouse cartoons from when I was younger, and they are generally clean. There is some cartoon violence in a few of the cartoons, which is generally there for comic relief. I miss cartoons like these, and wish more current cartoons took the time to be of such high quality. A collectible Litho print is included in the reviewable copy Family Friendly Gaming received. That is the biggest extra in this package. The only other one would be sneak peaks to other recent Disney films.
I wish there had been twice as many cartoons on this DVD as well. The music on this DVD is great. I enjoyed the sounds, and voices. They brought back a lot of memories for me. Some of the lessons in Mickey and Beanstalk are bravery, respecting elders, and following the rules. Mickey Mouse, Donald the Duck, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Pluto are some of the biggest Disney names in these cartoons.
The discs contain FastPlay, and the menu screens are easy to navigate
through. I let my boys watch this DVD and they enjoyed the cartoons
quite a bit. Their one question was: “That’s it?” Mickey and the
Beanstalk is a nice trip through some of Mickey Mouse’s history in
animation. I found a lot to like with Mickey and the Beanstalk.
