MatchMaker Mary

I was not sure what to make of Matchmaker Mary at first. This little girl is promised a puppy if she gets an 'A' on her sixth grade final exam. She does, and going to get a puppy sets off a chain of events that starts two couples, and saves a third. The couple she saves just happens to be her parents.

Matchmaker Mary is an independent film, so there are some things movie goers may notice. Certain sets are used quite often. I also noticed certain scenes had a completely black background. I am guessing this was done for artistic reasons. It did look strange to me to see just two people talking, with no background. The attire choices of the characters is great, and the puppies are very cute.

Katherine McNamara (who plays Mary) has such a wonderful positive attitude. There are adults that argue on this DVD, however it seems tame to me. Matchmaker Mary deals with life's priorities and where family belongs in them. The music is subtle, but fits the theme of the movie. The sounds on the behind the scenes can fluctuate drastically.

Matchmaker Mary does not contain a lot of special features, and the behind the scenes look was not what I was expecting. What hurts this DVD is the movie is only 80 minutes long. Matchmaker Mary tells a cute little story that is safe for the entire family. I just wish it had been a bit longer. The mission at the end went off very smoothly.

Guys will appreciate the humor in Matchmaker Mary, as my husband did. A few of the comments male characters make in Matchmaker Mary is exactly the kind of a thing a guy would say. Navigating around the screens of Matchmaker Mary on DVD are simple. This DVD reminds me of after school movies of the past.

Matchmaker Mary is extremely family friendly. There are no bad images, or sounds. The puppies are cute, and show a lot of love. I did appreciate how Matchmaker Mary brings up the problems with getting a puppy for the first time. I will be recommending Matchmaker Mary to friends, family members, and pastors.
