Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition

Can you believe Mary Poppins reaches the 45th year anniversary late August in the year of our Lord 2009? I can barely believe it has been that long since her unique family improvement task was originally undertaken. Julie Andrews, and Dick Van Dyke look great in this magical Disney DVD movie. Two children are misbehaving because their father is not involved enough with his own family. He focuses more on his career. The mother takes some blame since she is involved in politics (trying to get women the privilege of voting). The children run off nannies at a high frequency. In comes the magical Mary Poppins teaching the children structure and fun.

Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition looks great. This is an older film, and some of the technological things are not as impressive in this day and age. The mix of real life, and animation is impressive since I know the era it came from. I am very pleased to see traditional style of clothing, and people being friendly to one another.

Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition has great songs that easily get stuck in the brain. Humans of all ages enjoy these infectious songs. This DVD can also teach people a word they may not have already known - Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. This word is much easier to say if it is sung (editor: like in the movie). The cheerful expressions, and pleasant conversations make Mary Poppins a must have for families.

Disney included special features on the disc that the movie comes on, and a separate DVD disc. The second disc contains a lot of fantastic history about the stage version of Mary Poppins. I have seen Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition a couple of times, and the children have requested it numerous times. I feel that Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition is worth the money.

Disney has always done a good job with the functionality of their DVDs. Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition is no exception. All of the menu screens make perfect sense, and operate exactly the way they should. Each section of background art has a lot to do with the original movie.

Mary Poppins 45th Anniversary Edition is a wonderful family film that puts family first. Mary Poppins may seem to be practically perfect, but in reality the viewer sees through that mirage. The magical element in this movie is never explained, but I do not believe Mary Poppins has any affiliation with witchcraft. I would love to see a sequel to this franchise.
