Madden NFL Arcade is a 5 on 5 arcade style football game. Players have four downs to score a touchdown. The fields are not as long as the real ones. There are four offensive, and four defensive choices available. A slot wheel (editor: sort of thing) gives players various bonuses, or detriments. An example is the play is run in turbo, or ultra slow (molasses). Madden NFL Arcade is a very fast paced game where the focus is on passing. Three of the available plays are passing plays.
There is a lot of polish in the graphics of Madden NFL Arcade. I love how the fields look, and the touchdown celebrations are great. The players have a comic book kind of look to them. That means their muscles are accentuated. The tackling in Madden NFL Arcade is realistic looking, and does not go over the top (editor: like some other arcade football franchises).
There are some fantastic special effect sounds in Madden NFL Arcade. This game lets you know when it is your last play. The music fits the theme of this Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 downloadable video game. I would have liked to have some funny commentary to go along with the arcade game play. (editor: like some other arcade football franchises). I did not find any offensive words, or sounds while playing Madden NFL Arcade.
Madden NFL Arcade contains all the cool NFL football teams, and stadiums. So you will find your favorite pro football team in this game. There is a lot content in this game for a downloadable game. EA Sports could add additional content in the future if they like. The only complaint I have is how long it takes to download Madden NFL Arcade. The reason is, it is over 500 megs.
I like some of the ideas EA Sports had in Madden NFL Arcade. Teams work to reach a certain score (like 30 points). The special features can really hurt you. The one that sticks out is swapping the score. I was two touchdowns ahead, and all of a sudden the score got swapped. This kind of activity will lead to interesting discussions at the dinner table. It does keep things interesting, and make sure that one player does not dominate. I had a lot of fun playing Madden NFL Arcade, as did everyone who played it with me.
EA Sports had tried a few
things in terms of arcade style sports games. I think that Madden NFL
Arcade is on the right track. This game is safe for the entire family,
and fast paced fun. I will be recommending this game to friends, and
family members who want a fun little game that they can play
immediately.
