LocoRoco 2

Family Friendly Gaming seal of approval

SCORE: 98

LocoRoco 2

Sequels can be good or bad depending on the direction the developer takes. Sony added content in all the right areas (editor: the most notable being the storyline). In fact after playing LocoRoco 2 I retract and apologize for anything negative I may have said about Sony in the past. The little blob characters are back, and the player tilts the screen to navigate them left or right. Jumping continues, and there are a few new tricks to this trade that I will let you find for yourself. The singing has also returned, and it is just as infectious. The bad guys are dark, and the player gets rid of them so color can return to that area of the world.

The wide array of colors used in LocoRoco 2 make this a PSP video game that has to be in your library. Everything in this game is approachable, friendly, and happy. The damages shown on the bad guys is done in a humorous fashion. The height of the violence in this Playstation Portable video game is bumping into things and characters. Mario games are a lot more violent in my opinion.

I have already given some props to the music in my introduction paragraph. I can not stop raving on the music in LocoRoco 2. I found myself singing the tunes long after playing levels. The lyrics are nothing coherent so I can not see them as offensive to any of our Family Friendly Gaming readers. Music is an integral part of this hand held video game, and it really enhances the experience. I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing LocoRoco 2.

Sony made sure that finding all of the content in LocoRoco 2 is not a breeze. It is easy to blitz through this PSP video game. It is a lot more difficult finding everything, and building rooms in the Mui Mui House. This game is also has Wi-Fi ad-hoc multiplayer modes for up to four players at once. Players of all ages will easily spend weeks on this particular PSP video game.

LocoRoco 2 is the kind of a video game that will appeal to casual, and hardcore gamers both. I had a lot of fun playing LocoRoco 2, and love how much content there is to find in this game. The simple controls work perfectly, and are an improvement from the original game. The different mini games that are included add some diversity to the gameplay that is definitely welcome.

The only complaint I have about this franchise is there needs to be more of these games. Family Friendly Gaming, and myself specifically want to see more sequels to this franchise on the PSP. I see a lot of imagery in this game about standing up against the darkness, and being on the side of light. There is also an innocence to LocoRoco 2 that I really love.
