Imagine That

SCORE: 94

Imagine That

Eddie Murphy is a money man in Imagine That. He has been one of the most successful for his firm in a very long time. A new dog is barking at his heels, and surpassing him. Separated his daughter is more of a burden to him. He works beyond the forty hours a week, and it obsessed with his job. As he is slipping farther into that destructive life style (editor: of work taking too much of his time), his daughters imagination provides insight into which companies to invest in. His fortunes begin to turn, which brings a head on collision between being a father, and being a company man.

Imagine That contains a growth where Eddie Murphy starts out very stuffy, prim, and proper. He develops into a real man who takes off the tie, and even winds up dressing like a make shift king. He does this for his daughter. There is one intense scene where he breaks into a friends house, and tries to take the girls blankees. Imagine That also contains a lot of love, and genuine time and attention being given to children.

Since the descriptor mentioned mild language I paid close attention while watching Imagine That. I only found one word near the end that will bother families. I would let my children watch Imagine That with no problems. The Indian (aka Native American) character has many saying that will have you scratching your head. I learned to stay away from Red Bull thanks to Imagine That.

Family Friendly Gaming was blessed with the Blu-ray version of this movie, and there are a nice selection of extras. Deleted scenes, commentary, getting the part, outtakes, star blanket, and what they were saying are some of the stand out extras. Imagine That is the kind of movie the entire family can enjoy over and over again.

Imagine That has an intelligent design to the menu screens, and the operate as expected. There are a lot of heart felt moments in this movie. It is a comedy but I found a wonderful educational aspect to Imagine That. The magical element of the blankee is never really explained, but that is fine.

I love the story in Imagine That. This man realizes what is really important in life. There is a part in the movie where he turns down a possible major promotion. It is a Saturday and he wants to spend it with his daughter. Having the proper priorities lands him the promotion because he is willing to take a bold stand for what he believes in. I hope to see more movies like this in the future.
