Imagine Party Babyz is a milestone for the video game industry. This fun little party game on the Wii revolves around babies. Even though the younger members of the family are the target of this Wii game, adults can find plenty of excitement in it as well. Some of the mini games really give family members a real workout. Thankfully some of those forty mini games are not as strenuous. Some of them require thought, and/or memory in order to successfully complete them. Too many of the gaming media outlets have ignored this game, so Family Friendly Gaming is bring balance to this issue.
Imagine Party Babyz has a light, colorful, and impressively detailed look and feel to it. The babies are in diapers, but can be dressed in various unlockable outfits.. These range from a wolf costume, to a gladiator costume. The lady working on her degree is dressed appropriately, which is a nice change of pace (editor: for the video game industry). The toddlers animate well, especially in the Mad Dash mini game. There is a whack a jack in the box game where the player hits this toy with a hammer. That is the most violent Imagine Party Babyz gets.
The laughing, giggling, and overall happiness of the babies brought joy to my heart. The music, and sounds are very uplifting. There were a few people here at Family Friendly Gaming who did not like the laughter sounds, so it is only fair I put that in my review. I did not find any offensive language, and appreciated the story of the lady learning how to take care of young children.
The single player mode is pretty simple to beat in Imagine Party Babyz. After a few hours most gamers will have completed it, and unlocked the majority of the costumes. There are more that can be unlocked, and that is done through the competition with other players. The real fun in Imagine Party Babyz is playing against friends and family.
Each of the mini games are simple to learn, and generally make a lot of sense. I did not run into any control issues. The dancing mini game is a little long for my tastes. This is a minor quibble in an otherwise great video game. I had a lot of fun playing Imagine Party Babyz, and so did everyone I played with. There were some skeptical of the game until they watched us play, and then they were all in.
Imagine Party Babyz is a
cute little Wii game that is safe for the entire family. I applaud
Ubisoft for publishing this home console video game. The image of the
industry is improved thanks to Imagine Party Babyz. A sequel would be
welcome here.
