Igor

Igor is one of the most interesting, and different monster related cartoons I have seen in a long time. Igor is a slave (for all intents and purposes) to a mad scientist in a country (Malaria) where evil scientists compete against one another to create the worst monster. That winner then will be unleashed on the rest of the world unless they pay a ransom.  Igor does not want to stay a slave (who mainly just gets to pull the switch), for he wants to invent himself. The opportunity arises for him to create, and he does so. His trusty immortal yet suicidal rabbit, and the brain who was not the sharpest tool in the shed assist him in his quest to create evil life. He creates life, but she is kind, sweet, and caring. Thus the viewer goes along for the ride where good versus evil is explored.

Igor starts pretty dark, dank, and dreary. Eva brings about a lot of light to the movie, and the parts of the movie where true light is shown feel great. There is some cartoon violence as mad scientists (and their girlfriends) abuse Igor characters. There are a few female characters that bust out, but the DVD does not linger on them. The art style is not my cup of tea, but it animates well. The suicidal bunny has plenty of cartoon deaths, and rebirths.

Igor has great music, and perfectly placed songs. Each of these songs fit exactly with what is going on, and I found myself commenting (out loud) about that. There is some light language issues that you will not want little children repeating (i.e. stupid, idiot). The bunny has a bad attitude about a lot of things. With all of that said, there is some great humor in Igor that had members (of numerous ages) of the family laughing. Bring me a toy is one of the best lines in my opinion.

Igor has some excellent extras that I personally appreciate. The trailers section in the Special Features has a super surprise that I will not spoil for any of our readers. The various artwork included is a nice touch. I have already watched this DVD a couple of times because of how much I enjoyed the characters and story.

A lot of people think the functionality section of the Family Friendly Gaming reviews are a gimme. I have used plenty of DVDs with annoying screen layouts. Igor functions properly. Every single designer tries to do something different, and the chapter selection in Igor has some great special effects. Again I will not spoil it for any of our readers. The story has some great twists in it that had me hoping for certain things to happen.

Igor has a fun way of exposing evil for the fraud that it is. I found this lesson to be awesome.  Watch young children in the beginning to make sure they can handle it. Friendship, love and doing the right thing are also lessons in this movie. Igor takes some time to get to the destination, but the ride is well worth the wait in my opinion.
