Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs

I have seen the first two Ice Age movies, and appreciated how the characters have grown in each movie. Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs adds a few new characters. Buck (a slightly off weasel) is the most notable. The problem with constantly adding new characters is the older characters do not get as much screen time. Diego has some great parts, but there is something going on with him that was not fully explored. Scrat has a larger part in this movie. Family Friendly Gaming was blessed with a promotional copy of Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs, so it is possible the final product may have differences.
The animation in Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs is really good. The characters show they care about one another in various ways. There is some peril as dinosaurs attack mammals. A few mammals get eaten, but they are spit back out. I found the contrast between the dinosaur world, and the Ice Age one to very apparent. Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs feels like a Land of Lost in this regard.
I am happy to see Sid get a smaller role because his humor was getting old. Buck has a much better sense of humor in my opinion. The music in Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs is awesome. It fits the theme masterfully. Here and there I caught some name calling on this DVD. There are also a few references to well known franchises, if you are paying attention.
Normally promotional DVDs are lacking in the extras department. Not Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs. We were given two discs. The second one is devoted to extras, and there are a few on the same one as the movie. A lot of these are animated shorts related to Scrat. The time traveling one turned out to be my personal favorite. Families with computers will also appreciate the DVD extras they can acquire on the computers.
Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs tells a story of family. The mammals are expecting a baby, and Sid winds up finding some dinosaur eggs. They hatch and he becomes their mother (yes very odd). The dinosaurs mother comes back gets the kids, and Sid. The rest of the herd head down to find their friend Sid. They meet Buck along the way, who has no faith in finding Sid alive. The menu screens function properly, and are easy to move through.
I love the family theme of Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs. There is
plenty of humor that adults will understand that relate to child birth.
I went into this movie thinking they had done enough with this
franchise. After watching Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs, I would like
to see more of this animated fantasy universe. My entire family enjoyed
Ice Age 3 Dawn of the Dinosaurs on DVD.
