Food Network Cook or Be Cooked
SCORE: 88
Food Network Cook or Be Cooked is one of the most realistic cooking
games I have ever played. Mory Thomas and Susie Fogelson are the hosts
of this show. Oh wait, actually they host the video game. Which has been
made to feel a lot like a show. Players have to follow the recipes to
produce the food. Food Network Cook or Be Cooked makes the player manage
the preparation of the food. Timing can be a major part of the players
score. Yes you will be graded by the game.
Food Network Cook or Be Cooked got me hungry after seeing some of the
prepared dishes. The images are that realistic. The graphics used for
the two hosts are another story. They contrast drastically because it is
obvious the time was spent on the kitchen, and food. That is where the
player spends most of their time so I do not really see that as a bad
thing.
I learned some interesting little tidbits and tricks in relation to
cooking thanks to Food Network Cook or Be Cooked on the Wii. The
directions Food Network Cook or Be Cooked provides is awesome. The hosts
are very encouraging when you do things right. They are not so
encouraging when you do things wrong. I served them raw food one time,
and they let me have it - verbally.
Food Network Cook or Be Cooked includes over thirty recipes that can be
learned. Two players can cook with or against one another. That is the
major replay value to Food Network Cook or Be Cooked. Thankfully many of
the recipes are ones that any of us could or would do in our kitchens.
Food Network Cook or Be Cooked is part entertainment, and part
educational. If that appeals to you, then your money will be well spent
on this game.
The Wii makes a game like Food Network Cook or Be Cooked viable. Turning
knobs, breaking eggs, and seasoning food feels completely natural in
Food Network Cook or Be Cooked. I found the game play to be very
realistic. Namco Bandai has published a fantastic game that really hits
the target audience. I had fun playing Food Network Cook or Be Cooked,
as did others here at Family Friendly Gaming who played it.
I like Food Network Cook or Be Cooked, and believe it is a great start
to a franchise. I believe Namco Bandai has a winning formula on their
hands, and sequels need to be made. Less biting humor, or maybe an
option to lessen that. In this economy, learning how to cook for
yourself is a worthwhile goal. Food Network Cook or Be Cooked is at a
good price point in my opinion too.
