Fishing Master World Tour

It was a real treat for me to play and review Fishing Master World Tour. I had played this particular Wii game at E3, and it impressed me with its immersive game play, along with the ease of controls. Plus Hudson has been known for some real gems in their time (need I remind all ya'll of Kororinpa Marble Mania? Most fishing games are arcade style, or realistic simulation style. Hudson took the road not as traveled, and went right in between the two. There are arcade style aspects, and simulation style that blend together beautifully in Fishing Master World Tour. If that was not enough to get out your rod and reel, then know you can compare your scores with other gamers via the online Wi-Fi leader board. Tell all the whopper fish stories you want, but the game will keep accurate track.

The fresh, clean, and vibrant look to Fishing Master World Tour goes a long way with me. The artistic style of the characters has a real anime feel to it, and it is kept Family Friendly. The pictures of the wide array of fish contrasts the characters because they look real. I have been fishing in real life, and was pleased to see how realistic Hudson made the fish look. I love how great the different locations look, and how many of them there are.

The one area of Fishing Master World Tour that could use some polish is the audio department. The language problem the ESRB mentioned is present, and takes away from an otherwise exceptional game. The music is fitting, and the special effect sounds are stellar. I  really hope that any sequels to Fishing Master World Tour would clean that area up. That is the major thing that I feel holds this game back.

Fishing Master World Tour has a lot of replay value due to the ton of different locations, fish, and other such content included. Hudson obviously put a lot of time, effort, and intelligent design into Fishing Master World Tour for the Wii. All of the unlockable content in this Wii game makes my head spin. Up to four players can play Fishing Master World Tour at the same time.

People will tell you that you only get to make a first impression once. One of the first things Fishing Master World Tour tells the player is the Wii Remote is not used as a pointer. This bummed me out, because I love using my Wii Remote on menu screens. The use of the Wii Remote, and Nunchuk while fishing more than makes up for this disappointment. So while Fishing Master World Tour could not make another first impression, it got better as I got into the core content. I had a lot of fun playing Fishing Master World Tour, even if the fishing is a little on the easy side. I should also note a basic reading ability is needed to understand the controls.

Hudson was so very close to a masterpiece with Fishing Master World Tour. The previously mentioned language issue is the major flaw in this Wii game.  Everything else in Fishing Master World Tour is clean and safe for the entire family.
