Final Fantasy IV

Final Fantasy IV is the story of a dark knight who realizes how dark his king is. Players take on the role of this dark knight (Cecil), and they meet up with plenty of his friends. His old king turns out to be a monster, which really came as no surprise considering the hideous acts he has his troops commit. Final Fantasy IV revolves around crystals that contain mystical powers. Yeah that theme has been so overused it does not always register on the offensive meter. As a Christian I do still find the occult material very offensive.

Final Fantasy IV has some shocking visuals in it. Many of the female characters wear little clothing. Some of them dance in a suggestive manner. Then there is the issue of the violence in Final Fantasy IV. Players pick the attack combinations and watch the action unfold. The special effects for the magical attacks range from small to all encompassing.

The music in Final Fantasy IV is awesome. Characters talk to dead characters. This Nintendo DS game teaches eastern religious beliefs. Christians will find most of that material to be problematic. The biggest shock in Final Fantasy IV is the bad language. Why this was included makes no sense and drags this hand held game down quite a bit.

There are plenty of items in Final Fantasy IV. These include armors, weapons, and of course items. Some of these have names like devil sword, and cursed this or that. The RPG Master was not impressed with these names at all. Square Enix needs to make a better effort to make these items family friendly. There are some multiplayer modes included too.

The biggest drawback to Final Fantasy IV is the extremely linear game play. Certain dungeons and bosses can only be beaten at certain levels or in certain ways. This does not lend a lot of creativity to the game play, and makes sections of Final Fantasy IV no fun to play.

This review has pretty much touched on the wide array of moral and ethically issues with Final Fantasy IV already. This series needs to drop the eastern religious training, occult material, enticement to lust, and bad language.
