Facing the Giants

Facing the Giants is one of the best films of all time. What makes that statement even more impressive is what a small budget used for this movie. This DVD is a football film that also touches on the important aspect of faith. The main character is like a lot of people, rushing around in life not satisfied, mediocre at best, and feeling like something is missing. That something is a deep relationship with God. A lot of people go to church, put on a happy face, listen to the sermon (editor: and generally stay awake), but do not apply any of the lessons from the Holy Bible to their lives. Facing the Giants shows what happens when we release our cares, concerns, and problems to God. The core lesson of this movie is attitude. We can not control what problems we face, what we can control is our reactions to them. Do we get angry when someone wrongs us, or do we forgive them, and show others a better path to take.

Facing the Giants has a lot of cinematic value that I was not expecting. There are plenty of small budget films that look bad, in fact there are a lot of high budget films that do not look good either. Facing the Giants has some special moments, especially when the coach is praying in solitude. The only bad is the tackling in football that is shown throughout the movie. Thankfully the violence is never glorified.

The audio, and script used in Facing the Giants is perfect. The lesson of this movie sounds off crystal clear, and it is one of the most important lessons we can ever hear. There is also the best football scene I have ever seen that is very encouraging (the death crawl scene). The music in this DVD is also very encouraging and fit the theme perfectly.

This is one of those powerful movies that can be watched over and over again. I have not grown tired of Facing the Giants, and will not for years to come. The emotional by-product from watching this movie is self evident.

The DVD of Facing the Giants functions remarkably well. I found no flaws in the execution of the menus, jumping to different scenes, etc. There is a definite intelligent design to the menu screens. I absolutely loved Facing the Giants, and everyone in my family enjoys it as well. I recommend this DVD to everyone who has a beating heart.

Facing the Giants is exactly the progress Hollywood needs. It is ironic that it takes those outside of that good ole boys club to make such a monumental film. I want to see sequels to Facing the Giants, and know the church that made this has made other movies as well. You can not go wrong with a purchase of Facing the Giants on DVD.
