Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero

Elebits on the Wii was received really well here at Family Friendly Gaming. A continuation of the story on the Nintendo DS piqued our curiosity, and I got to review this hand held action adventure title. Kai and Zero run across a bus that has a secret and they find themselves on another world. Kai has to collect Elebits, and Omegas (like Zero) to try and find a way back home. Early on Kai is concerned that his parents will get worried since he has gone missing. Children should think of ways to honor their parents and this lesson stuck out with me. The touch screen of the Nintendo DS is used to tap Elebits (which freezes them for a short time), and then tap the Omega out at the time. Each Omega has a different power that can be used to progress through certain areas.

Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero has an upbeat, energetic, and uplifting theme. The areas are friendly, and the good guys wear light colors. The bad ones are darker, so it makes discernment simple. There is some cartoon violence as enemies will try and stop the team. The artwork is top notch in my book.

Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero has some catchy music to it that brightened my day. The special effect sounds also let the player know of success when harvesting the elebits. The fantasy story of going to another world, and discovery will ignite the imagination of children.  I like how Kai helps those around him, and has a good attitude.

Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero has a lengthy quest and a multiplayer mode. More than one copy of the game is needed in order to play these multiplayer games. After beating this DS game I can not see a reason to go back through the quest. I feel that this game is worth your hard earned dollars.

Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero controls really well. Most areas allow touch and buttons to do things. Certain things like harvesting the Elebits requires touch screen controls. I found Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero to be a lot of fun to play. This Nintendo DS game is one of those that sneaks up on you, and grabs a hold of you.

Elebits The Adventures of Kai and Zero shows that Kai has a really good heart, and wants to do the right thing. He sticks up for his friends in a traditional manner, and works hard to honor his parents. The entire honoring the parents is one aspect I can not stop talking about since it is such a rare concept in video games. I would love to see sequels to this franchise in graphical look, gameplay style, and storyline.
