Drawn The Painted Tower

Drawn The Painted Tower is a fantasy world full of magical puzzles. The King’s daughter has been imprisoned on top of the tower. The player must solve puzzles to get up to the top and ultimately save her. I have to categorize the puzzles in Drawn The Painted Tower as brain teasers. Some are easier than others. Many of them make perfect sense, but finding the pieces is the hard part. This is a Personal Computer game from Big Fish Games. The presentation of Drawn The Painted Tower is much better than I was expecting in a downloadable puzzle game.

The graphics in Drawn The Painted Tower have to be seen to be believed. The artwork is fantastic. Amazing details, and lighting effects make this game shine. That is the good news. The bad news is a lot of Drawn The Painted Tower is dark. I understand the premise, but I ran into problems finding items due to the lack of light. There are magical images, and things to interact with (i.e. going into a painting that is alive). Still all in all, I like the artwork in this PC game.

The sounds of Drawn The Painted Tower fit the theme of this game beautifully. Parts of this game could scare younger members of the family, so be careful. I enjoyed the voice acting, and narration that is also included. Drawn The Painted Tower puts the burden of correcting the evil of that world solely on the shoulders of the player. Don’t let the pressure get to you.

Drawn The Painted Tower surprised me with Extras. Big Fish Games is raising the bar for downloadable PC games. Only one player can play this game at a time, but it can be fun to work together on the puzzles (editor: in front of the same terminal). I feel that Drawn The Painted Tower is worth the price of admission.

I am thankful for the hints system in Drawn The Painted Tower. At times I was beyond clueless as to how to solve a specific puzzle. I did learn a lot, and have grown in how I analyze situations. Screens change routinely after a specific function is performed. So revisiting them after something has been done is very important. I had fun playing Drawn The Painted Tower, even though it can be frustrating at times.

Drawn The Painted Tower reminds me of Shadowgate. I would love to see a sequel to this game, and feel it would make a welcome addition on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and/or Wii. It is great to be able to flex the brain muscles, and Drawn The Painted Tower provides that in abundance.
