Defend your Castle
SCORE: 67

Defend Your Castle is a Wiiware game where the player essentially defends their castle. The WMG has to give XGen Studios there due because there is a lot of creativity in this downloadable Wiiware video game. A lot of the text is done with Scrabble pieces, and things like popsicle sticks are prominent as well. Stick figures attack your castle, and it is your job to keep them from breaking in. In other words you are medieval security in a strange world of weird attackers. The way this game has the castle defended is by picking up the attackers and throwing them into the air. They fall down in a disgusting splat and then vanish.
Graphically speaking Defend your Castle does not look that great. The throwing of the stick figures and having them fall to their deaths is repulsive to this reviewer. Sure it may only be stick figures, but the concept to falling to one's death is still a fear many deal with. Why not be sensitive to those people? There are some decent colors used in this Wii game. The inclusion of real life items is interesting, but the novelty fades quickly.
Defend your Castle has some nice music that the WMG enjoyed. Certain special effect sounds like the splatter of bodies on the ground after falling a long distance took away any desire to eat. The WMG believes the developer was shooting for humor, but this reviewer did not find any humor in this content at all.
XGen Studios included a lot of different levels and content in Defend your Castle. If you get into this game then you will find replay value. This game also only costs five dollars so the selling point is pretty good. With all of that said, this reviewer does not feel Defend your Castle is worth the price of admission.
All in all the controls are decent in Defend your Castle. The WMG did run into a few problems with the collision detection of the cursor unit picking up the hordes of barbarians storming the castle. Sadistic gamers will probably find fun in the wanton death and destruction by flinging the attackers high into the sky and watching them come crashing down. The WMG is not one of those gamers and did not have fun playing Defend your Castle.
The WMG likes to see small
developers come up with creative ideas. Defend your Castle sadly uses
some of the worst ideas in the video game industry. The best way to
describe Defend your Castle is an attempt to make violent game play
		family friendly.
