Cooking Mama has become a house hold name, and a powerhouse on the Nintendo DS. I got a very big smile on my face when I received Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop on the Nintendo DS. Majesco Entertainment took this franchise in a little different direction. Players now have some mini games based on going to the grocery store. Before you freak out Cooking Mama fans, know that the normal cooking mini games are still included. I am surprised that Majesco Entertainment did not flesh the shopping portion out more, and have a Shopping Mama video game.
The graphics in Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop are the same kind of artwork from the first two games. The colors are very soft, bright and realistic. I found that if I made mistakes I could burn the food. The shopping main screen has small graphics, but the mini games look really good. There are a lot of special effect images when the player is successful in Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop. I did not see any offensive images while playing this Nintendo DS video game.
Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop continues to encourage the player. When mistakes happen the game tells the player that Mama will help them. I like this kind of a family feel. I also like how many times I heard I did something better than Mama. The music is uplifting in Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop, and added a dimension to this hand held title.
This franchise is absolutely insane when it comes to extras. There are two hundred mini games. These range from shopping to cooking. If all of the mini games are not enough for you, then there are multiplayer modes as well. Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop includes single card download play, and there is also multicard play too. Players can also scrapbook their digital picture diary with animated stickers. I consider Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop to be worth the money it costs.
The mini games are generally pretty easy in Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop. A few will take a couple of tries. For some reason I was not into the shopping mini games. Maybe because they were not directly related to the recipes I was working on. With that said there is still a lot of fun to be found in this game.
Cooking Mama 3 Shop & Chop is safe for the entire family. The worst
part about this game is it has alcohol in some recipes. There are some
dishes that contain that, so I am not too hard on that. I like how
positive this game is, and how it wants the player to succeed. Mama has
made a major impact on the video game industry, and I hope to see her
again next year.
