Burger Island

Burger Island joins the extremely crowded time management genre on the Nintendo Wii. The  main character washes up on shore with nothing. An old couple take her in, and then give her their burger shack. Make burgers, shakes and fries for the island customers that come in. Eventually the player meets some tribal members who sell her new recipes. Cook the hamburgers (or fries), and then put the rest of the ingredients on. These ingredients are shown on the screen in the exact order they must be put on. Perform this action in a timely manner and a nice tip is left. Reach the appropriate goal for a day, and you can move on to the next level.

There are a lot of bright colors in Burger Island. The islander theme permeates the graphics of this game. One of the worst images in Burger Island is burning of the food. I barely noticed the customers who frequent the establishment. A lot of the images are recycled in this Wii game.

One musical artist comes to mind when I think upon the music in Burger Island. That musical artist is Elvis. No he is not an islander, but the music in this Wii game reminds me of him. Maybe because of some of his songs, or maybe just the feel of the music. I don’t know. I enjoyed the music, however others who listened thought the music was repetitive. I did not hear any offensive sounds while playing Burger Island.

Time management games are sometimes described at managing chaos. Burger Island has a lot of addictive replay value to it. Even though most of the game play is repetitive, I found myself wanting to play level after level. For the price point Burger Island is selling for I feel it is worth the money.

The controls in Burger Island are actually pretty simple. Click this item, and then click the tray (or plate) that is belongs to. Click the next item, and repeat the process. The real key to Burger Island is to time everything just right. Cooking things like the burgers and fries takes a few seconds. Anticipating what will be coming is one of the ways to succeed in this Wii game. I had fun playing this Wii game for the time I played it.

Burger Island teaches a good hard work ethic. Concentration, and multi-tasking are also lessons players can learn. Servicing others is another facet of Burger Island, and it is a lesson all of us need to be reminded of. Jesus himself said he came to serve, not to be served. I would like to see sequels to Burger Island on the Wii, and am glad I got to play this game.
