Bedtime Stories

Adam Sandler does not have the best track record when it comes to family friendly entertainment. So I had my eyes and ears open when watching Bedtime Stories. This maintenance man had been promised the top job at a hotel, and gets passed over. His sister leaves the area to interview in another city. So he takes care of his nephew and niece at night. He tells them bedtime stories, and they start to come true in the real world. Like most people he decides to turn this to his advantage. Not everything turns out the way he expects it to, which gives Bedtime Stories a lot of humor.

Overall there are a lot of family friendly images in Bedtime Stories. Skeeter (Adam Sandler’s character) starts out not understanding a lot about family. He grows, and comes to love them. The gumball rain storm brought a smile to my face. There is one female character who has a few scenes where she wears very little. Thankfully these are short scenes. Bugsy may open a few eyes as well.

Bedtime Stories teaches imagination, keeping promises, looking beyond the outside, and saving our schools. There is some occasional mild language issues that mainly revolve around name calling. I had to double check to find them because they do not stick out. I did enjoy Skeeter mocking the extreme organic only foods his sister had. Exposing his nephew and niece to things like hamburgers were classic.

Disney included the Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital Copy in this package of Bedtime Stories. That alone covers most families, and usually multiple times over. I love it when the extras include behind the scenes, which Bedtime Stories does. It also includes a really cool feature on Bugsy, deleted scenes, and bloopers - to name just a few. I found this movie to be worthwhile and feel it is worth your heard earned dollars.

Bedtime Stories has a real soft magical feel to the menu screens, plus a real ease of use moving around the menu screens (on Blu-ray, and DVD both). The story pokes a little fun at itself while telling the story, and I appreciated this kind of humor. Adam Sandler keeps his humor kid friendly in this movie, and that goes a long way here at Family Friendly Gaming. There are other well known actors/actresses in this movie that I will let you find.

Do you believe in happy endings? Bedtime Stories tells the story of a cynical man who starts to believe in them again. Telling bedtime stories is also a traditional practice that millions of parents still do, and I like how this movie brings that to the forefront in a positive light. Skeeter also learns to appreciate what is right in front of him, and to be the good guy.
