Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition

It has been a very long time since 1971. That is the year that Disney released Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Fast forward to the year of our Lord 2009, and Disney released Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition on DVD. One of the first things I noticed about this movie was there is a prayer before the meal is eaten. I really wish more current movies had content like that. Angela Lansbury (Miss Price) headlines this World War II based movie. Miss Price wants to help the war effort in Britain, so she enrolls in a course of witchcraft. She believes she can use this dark, and evil power to help defeat the Nazis. This movie is 140 minutes long.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition has a lot of fantastic clothes from that era. The characters all dress appropriately, and it is cute to see them dress for cold weather before getting on a flying bed. There is some mild violence, and peril on this DVD. There is also witchcraft images that can be found in Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition. An example would be characters turned into rabbits. This movie also contains some neat live action mixed with animation. I also like how animated characters were worked into this movie. I did notice strings holding people and things up in certain scenes.

The music in Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition is passable. I was not into all the magic words, and witchcraft being used for good. Let alone using evil to destroy evil. There are a few interesting songs that are sung in this movie, but none of them stuck with me. Helping out the war effort is a great thing, and taking in orphans is another wonderful thing.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition contains some fun historical special features. The Wizards of Special Effects, A Step in the Right Direction Reconstructed, David Tomlinson “Portabello Road” Recording Session, Theatrical Trailers and more is included on this DVD. I found most of these special features to be worth the time spent watching them. I do enjoy seeing how things work though, and seeing.

The storyline of Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition is a witch using occultic powers to save the day against the Nazis. I was able to move around the menu screens with the greatest of ease. I enjoyed seeing the human and animated characters interacting. That was the most fun part of this movie.

The main lesson in Bedknobs and Broomsticks Enchanted Musical Edition is to use whatever means necessary to defeat evil. Bad news is that it reminds me of the road to hell is paved with good intentions. A family unit is created in this movie which I appreciated.
