Baseball Blast

Baseball Blast is a fun baseball themed mini game compilation. There are twenty mini games that are all based off baseball. Things like catching fly balls, avoiding a pitching machine that is trying to hit players, and batting baseballs that come from pirate ships. I think that last one probably caught your attention. Players get to pick their favorite team, and then get to playing the mini games.

The graphics in Baseball Blast are family friendly. The players have large upper bodies, and small legs. This muscle bound kind of theme brought a smile to my face. Characters animate nicely, and there are a lot of bright and colorful graphics. There are some minor violent images, things like knocking another player down to get a fly ball, or to steal a base. That reminds me, in Baseball Blast you actually steal the base and bring it back to home plate in one mini game. Some of the best graphics are in the trivia game.

Bob Uecker has such a great voice, and it was a real treat to her him in Baseball Blast on the Wii. His comments had me laughing quite a bit while I was playing this game. He is also a great fit for a game like this, because he makes this game feel more like baseball than a mini game compilation. The music in Baseball Blast is fresh and upbeat as well.

Four family members can play Baseball Blast together, and that is the best way to play this Wii game. Baseball Blast can be played by one player against the computer, but it is not as much fun in my opinion. There are a fair amount of unlockables that include different modes, games (like trivia), and content. Baseball Blast contains various difficulty settings as you improve.

It has become almost standard practice for mini games to give instructions on how to play them. Baseball Blast does this for every single mini game. There is written and visual instructions on how to play the upcoming mini game. The Wii Remote is the only controller needed, and all of these games control well. I had a lot of fun playing Baseball Blast, as did everyone else who played with me.

Baseball Blast can be used during family night. I appreciate 2K Sports for releasing a fun, family friendly video game on the Wii. Attention to detail, humor, and fantasy fun are some of the lessons I got from Baseball Blast. There was a lot of creativity to come up with Baseball Blast, and I want to point that out. I hope to see more games like this in the future, especially if there are even more mini games.
