Axel and Pixel

Axel & Pixel is a puzzle game on the Xbox 360 with a few twists. This painter Axel and his dog Pixel embark upon a dangerous journey in Dreamworld. Players move the cursor around the screen finding items to interact with. Each screen requires a certain order for these interactions. There are also areas of Axel & Pixel where the player must press specific buttons in exact order. If any of this freaks you out, don’t worry because Axel & Pixel is very forgiving (editor: by giving the player as much time as they need to retry).

The screens of Axel & Pixel look like painting that you would see in a museum. Many of them look very realistic. The characters on the screen contrast this, and seriously stick out. The downside to this is there are some darker colors in Axel & Pixel. Making a mistake on a screen will lead to some cartoon violence, like having the painter fall down.

The WMG found the music in Axel & Pixel to fit the theme of this Xbox 360 game. The painter speaks in a special sort of language that is not quite English. It did bring a smile to this reviewer’s face. The WMG did not hear any offensive language while playing Axel & Pixel.

You will spend most of your replay time trying to figure out various screens. Axel & Pixel will take weeks for most gamers to complete. The better you do on the puzzles, the better chance you have of unlocking a secret mini game at the end. Axel & Pixel is a downloadable game, so it costs less than a game at the store. Which means the WMG feels Axel & Pixel is worth your hard earned dollars. The only downside to this game is it can be very addicting (editor: trying to solve puzzles). Only one player can play this game at a time.

Axel & Pixel is very easy to play, but takes a lot of thought to complete. There is a common sense intelligent design to each of the puzzles in Axel & Pixel. The WMG had a lot of fun playing Axel & Pixel. Honestly there was some frustration on certain puzzles. That led to additional character for this reviewer though.

Axel & Pixel is safe for the entire family in this reviewers opinion. Looking around an environment, finding what is different, and what can be used are some of the lessons in this Xbox 360 game. Family Friendly Gaming would like to see sequels to this franchise. Silver Wish Games is a developer to keep our eyes on. The whole fantasy dream model of this game was kept safe for the family, and this reviewer appreciated that.
