Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel

Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel

My kids love Alvin and the Chipmunks. Something about talking animals that have a similar maturity level appeals to them. I find the furry little critters to be cute. Of course as a parent I also acknowledge their need for guidance in the form of discipline. A few of their rude comments have gotten my children in trouble. Thus far I have been talking about the original movie. We have seen previews for Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel. So getting the game on the Wii (editor: and DS) is a real treat.

The Chipmunks and Chipettes look decent in Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel on the Wii. The stages are all different, and have some great special effects. I noticed a lot of the dance moves are repeated in the concert performances. I had to look carefully because the movements required by the player can get intense. Others watching noticed the gyrations from the Chipmunks, and how they shake their tales at the screen. Seeing how they are Chipmunks I did not find it sexual.

The Chipmunks, and Chipettes have a real unique sound to them. Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel has them singing various known rock songs with that unique sound. I noticed a few questionable lyrics here and there in a couple of the songs. Thankfully the songs are much tamer in this Wii game than many other music games we have played here at Family Friendly Gaming.

One of the cool things about Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel on the Wii is three players can play this game together. There are plenty of locations to play, and even duets with the Chipettes. Once a song is performed it is unlocked in the Jukebox. This means you can listen to the songs at your own leisure. This is a pretty neat feature, especially if you enjoy the Chipmunks style of singing.

Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel has some wonderful controls that made me feel like I was dancing. The beat is hit at exactly the right point over and over again. I did have some problems going straight out to the right. I found if I shook the Wii Remote while out to the right it would register. Thankfully Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel is very forgiving to the players.

I like how encouraging Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel is. The characters are very positive, and will occasionally joke with one another. I failed a mission on purpose and found the characters were positive and encouraging there as well. I would like to see a sequel to this Wii game. I enjoyed my time playing Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel on the Wii.
