Air Bud Special Edition
SCORE: 90
My sons have enjoyed Air Bud on DVD for years now. So much so that we moved into the Buddies movies. So when Air Bud Special Edition came into the Family Friendly Gaming office, I was first in line to see what new exciting, and cool content Disney added. The original movie Air Bud is included, and to be honest it looks better on this DVD than the first one. A mistreated dog gets left behind, and a shy boy finds him. The dog gives the boy confidence to join the basketball team. Bud eventually gets his turn to play, and you can probably guess as to how he does.
Air Bud Special Edition has a few rare moments where the dog is mistreated, or there is the threat of being treated poorly. Thankfully those moments are the exception, and not the rule. A coach who is going too far with disciplining a kid loses his job. There are a lot of positive images in Air Bud Special Edition, and children who watched this DVD enjoyed it. The whole dog outscoring humans is not realistic, but still fun. I noticed certain shots re-used in certain parts of the movie.
I love the message in Air Bud Special Edition. This shy boy, whose father recently died comes out of his shell, and a pet is the entire reason. This DVD shows parents one possible way they can help a struggling child. The threats are done by the bad characters, and they always wind up getting theirs. The music fits the mood of the movie.
A special edition DVD hinges on the new extra content. The big draw to Air Bud Special Edition is the Dog-U-Commentary with the entire Buddies family. Fast Play is included of course, and some more current upcoming movie releases. If you have never seen Air Bud, then Air Bud Special Edition is definitely worth the money. If you own Air Bud, then your decision may be a little more difficult.
Air Bud Special Edition has an awesome intelligent design to the menu layout. I was able to navigate around quite well, and so was my eldest son. The movie has some humorous moments that will touch all ages of the family. Younger children will cheer for the doggie as he keeps making baskets. The basketball sneakers on a dog is one of the cutest things I have seen in years, since I had forgotten that from previous viewings.
Air Bud Special Edition teaches wonderful lessons like team work,
being selfless, and not listening to nay sayers. We approve of that
message, and have learned it ourselves here at Family Friendly Gaming.
The clown character shows the bad side of people, and he loses in the
end. I had quite a few emotional moments in Air Bud Special Edition.
