Zoo Tycoon DS 2 lets the player take on the role of a zoo designer. THQ brings us this slice of hand held architecture. Players get to design their own zoo’s complete with animal exhibits. Zookeepers, workers, and guests are all a part of the program. Don’t forget things like concession stands, and bathrooms or the visitors will not be too pleased. THQ made sure a very educational tutorial was included in this Nintendo DS cartridge. Plenty of strategy, action, and meticulous detail is included for those into this kind of a thoughtful video game.
The WMG likes the graphical detail in Zoo Tycoon DS 2. The 3D animal models are not perfect but pretty darn well good for the Nintendo DS. There are plenty of diverse colors found within this game, many of them relating to the environment of specific animals. Animals can get sick, and die but nothing disgusting is ever displayed by the game. Zoo Tycoon DS 2 also makes sure animals that would go after each other are not allowed in the same areas.
The sounds in Zoo Tycoon DS 2 are pleasant. There is some nice music that fits the theme of this game. The WMG wishes there was more of a musical selection, but that is neither here nor there. Some more animal sounds would have been nice. No offensives were heard while playing this Nintendo DS video game.
Zoo Tycoon DS 2 really shines in the replay section. There are so many different animals, buildings, exhibits, etc. to play with that most gamers will be kept busy for months. There is also a decent amount of unlockable content when certain levels are attained. If you like to build, create, and manage then Zoo Tycoon DS 2 is worth your money.
The touch screen of the Nintendo DS works nicely for Zoo Tycoon DS 2. Bear in mind this is a port from the PC where a mouse was used. The one drawback to the game play is the size of a lot of the graphics. It can be difficult to tell certain things apart. The zoom function helps, but it can get a little clunky from time to time. Zoo Tycoon DS 2 is difficult but the tutorial assists in that regard. The WMG had some fun with this game even though this is not the kind of game this WMG normally plays.
Zoo Tycoon DS 2 gets a
passing grade when it comes to the family friendly factor. Teaching
people to take care of animals, how to create, and how to serve the
public are all wonderful lessons. This DS video game teaches those
lessons and more. The WMG would like to see some more video games like
this one on the Nintendo DS. The WMG’s pastor will be getting a
recommend to check out title.
