Wiffle Ball

Some of my fondest childhood memories come from playing Wiffle Ball with my family. Wiffle Ball was my introduction to the basics of baseball, and one that has stayed with me for decades. So when I received Wiffle Ball on the Nintendo DS from DSI Games I had mixed emotions. I have some rather high standards for the family fun sport of Wiffle Ball, and was intrigued by the idea of a video game based on the sport. Wiffle Ball has been around for more than fifty years, and has meant good, safe baseball fun. Thankfully I was not disappointed with this product, and found some really neat things inside.

Graphically Wiffle Ball has some nice bright graphics, and wonderful places to play the game. The items on the field look like their real life counterparts. The details are okay, but they certainly could have been better. I really like how wholesome graphics are used properly. I found absolutely no offensive graphics in this game at all.

The music is decent in Wiffle Ball. The snap of the bat, or whiff of a miss really bring back some memories. The sound effects in this game enhance the experience in a good way. I heard no offensive sounds.

Wiffle Ball can be played against the computer, or wireless against other players. There are plenty of neighborhood kids to play with, and plenty of reasons to replay. In my humble opinion this game is a bargain for just under twenty US Dollars.

Wiffle Ball is not an easy sport to score runs in, and DSI Games duplicated that perfectly. The ball can do some funny things out there, and they got that right as well. Persistent does pay off, and patience is rewarded. The touch screen or the buttons can be used to bat/pitch, and that is most welcome indeed. I had a blast playing this game, and believe you would too.

DSI Games has been on a tear as of late with releasing games that are fun, and family friendly. Wiffle Ball teaches good clean fun, along with concentration, and hand to eye coordination. I really wish there were more games like this on the market. Sequels are most definitely needed, especially if they flesh out the characters by adding build your own characters. This is also a perfect game for Wi-Fi. This game is safe for the entire family, and receives the FFG seal of approval.
