Family Friendly Gaming Hall of Fame

Since 1998 those of involved with Family Friendly Gaming have been promoting good games for families. We have been involved in the industry for decades. We are constantly honoring good games for families. The Holy Bible has been the set in stone standards we have applied to the definitions we use. Covering these games in a wide variety of forms has been the order of the day for these games. We wanted to do something additional, and special for some of the best of the best.

Uno Skip-Bo Uno Free Fall

For those that are reading the awesome updates on the Family Friendly Gaming website on a daily basis know all about Uno / Skip-Bo / Uno Free Fall on the Nintendo DS. Okay, maybe not all about, but certainly have some idea that this is a game we are looking at due to road trip potential. DSI Games taxed Black Latern Studios to create one DS cartridge that has these three classic card games. They even made sure to include wireless game play. Four Nintendo DS’ can play one another with just one game cartridge.

The graphics in Uno / Skip-Bo / Uno Free Fall are very bright and colorful. The details are decent, but nothing too fantastic. This game stays true to the subject material, and does not go against traditional values. At times I felt some of the graphics were a little on the small side, but then I also realize there are three games for the price of one. I do like some of the backgrounds, and graphical effects used. These games are more about strategy than eye candy anyways. Wholesome images are used properly by the developer.

DSI Games made sure that pleasant music was included within this Nintendo DS cartridge. I also feel the sounds work quite well with this game. I did not hear any offensive sounds. An improvement to this kind of a game would be some character conversations while players are playing. One of the joys of playing these games in real life is one player telling another one to enjoy some more cards. Such ribbing could be done, and kept family friendly in my humble opinion.

If you have ever enjoyed any of these card games, then Uno / Skip-Bo / Uno Free Fall on the Nintendo DS could very well be worth your hard earned dollars. We found this game for under twenty US Dollars. The wireless play off of one cartridge is also an excellent feature.

The controls for Uno / Skip-Bo / Uno Free Fall work generally well. The one complaint I have for this section is the limited use of the bottom touch screen. It would be nice to be able to select cards with a touch of the screen. Hopefully that will be included in a future release. I think this game is a blast to play. The flow is just like the real card games, and the instructions how to play the games are perfectly placed.

I personally love to play games that are safe for the entire family, and this is one such game. If you are looking for a game to keep children busy while on a road trip then Uno / Skip-Bo / Uno Free Fall is one such option that will not break the bank. I would really like to see more value priced, multiple games like this on in the near (and distant) future. This may also encourage families to dust off, or purchase these card games and play them together. It was my personal joy, and pleasure to play, review, and write about this video game.
