Ultimate Band

Ultimate Band on the Nintendo DS is a little bit different than the Wii version. Many of the same songs are included, but the motions are limited to the touch screen. For an instrument like the drums this is fine. For guitars, the strumming is the only thing emulated. That is not a bad thing, it just does not feel like the Wii version.

Ultimate Band looks fine on the Nintendo DS with a lot of loud colors in the whole rock band scene thing. This Disney Interactive Studios title lets players pick what their character looks like, and then get into trying to be a rock star. Ultimate Band on the DS is safer visually in this regard in my opinion.

Many of the same songs are included in both versions of Ultimate Band. There were no songs in this game that I am into, and a lot of messages sent in many of these songs bothered me. Especially when I have two boys, and I am working (with my husband of course) to treat women like ladies, and to be thankful for what God blesses them with in life. I did not find any songs that reinforce that successful lifestyle.

One of the coolest things about Ultimate Band is the inclusion of DGamer. This community connection is appreciated, especially how Disney keeps it safe for the entire family. There are fifteen tracks in this version, so if you are into these songs then you will find replay value to Ultimate Band. Disney Interactive Studios also included wireless play with multiple cards, and multiple DS'es.

The game play in Ultimate Band is pretty easy to pick up and learn. The harder difficulty the more that goes on in the screen. Pretty much touch the screen in the right places at the right times, or strum the screen. I wish there was a little more diversity to the game play though. With all of that said, I had some fun playing Ultimate Band on the Nintendo DS.

Learning how to improve ones skills is one of the good lessons in this DS game. Ultimate Band also slightly glorifies the rock and roll lifestyle which is one of the worst lifestyle choices anyone can get into. It is a difficult thing to have every aspect of your life scrutinized, and to be on the road so often. Maybe a DSi version is in the works and some clean country and/or Christian titles will be downloadable.
